Harvest Wife

*Edit…

I am changing my title, because I was made aware that my title may be hurtful for those truly in the trenches of being a widow. I truly apologize for that!

It’s Saturday night, 9:34 pm. I sit here typing, the children are watching “The Skit Guys”, but are headed to bed soon! One of them was up before 4 am, another up before 5:30 am, and the other was on baby brother duty since 4 am. Which means interrupted sleep πŸ˜‰Β  The tractor and manure spreader keep buzzing by the house, and will stop sometime before midnight, or when the farmer gets too tired πŸ™‚

I’ve milked twice today, did laundry, cleaned the living room, settled fights, took a power nap while getting baby and his bigger sis down for a nap, washed my kitchen floor, baked cookies, lost my temper, listened to motivational speakers, folded laundry. Don’t you love all those details I just listed? πŸ™‚ Really, what is the deal? We all did stuff today, but didn’t have to tell everyone. Right???Β  But I felt like it, and it’s my blog, so there you go! Chuckle, chuckle πŸ™‚

Ok sorry friends! I may have been feeling a tad snarky. I was baking cookies after 8pm on a Saturday night, and wondering what all the fun, exciting people were doing πŸ™‚

Honestly, I don’t mind being home on a Saturday night! But right now, I refer to myself as the “Harvest widow” (will be more careful with my words, and from now on, say “Harvest wife”), and I am so ready to have a day of rest tomorrow!!

Harvest is in full swing, and with the hubby being gone with the custom crew every day, sometimes half the night, my hands are full πŸ™‚

I decided to share a few photos of harvest 2017!!This was a day I ran lunch to my man, and took a quick ride with him πŸ™‚ This church was right beside a field the crew was in, one night when I ran supper to him . I loved how peaceful it looked!Stopping for a quick bite! The little stinker πŸ™‚I am always glad when this time of year is over! So much equipment, and tired men, often in a hurry.

I pray for safety for all!! This year the crop is bountiful, and we are thankful for that!! I hope you all have a good ending to your weekend!! πŸ™‚

For the love of sunsets

If you followed me awhile now, you know I love a good sunset to capture some silhouette shots πŸ™‚

Sharing a few with you today!

Happy Monday!!Next post…some info on my fave productsΒ and a giveaway!! πŸ™‚

Baby On Our Mind

My stomach looks like a small Mt. Everest, and it goes up and down, like an ocean wave. I readjust my position on the recliner, trying to breathe better. Kicks and tumbles, and all sorts ofΒ flips are going on in my womb πŸ™‚ Seriously, we may possibly have a future gymnast in there πŸ™‚

Last week I had my ultrasound and was so happy! Our prayer was that my placenta would move, soΒ I wouldn’t have to have a C-section, and it did! Baby was looking good, and a healthy weight.

We still have not hardly discussed names. I have no idea why. In fact, we never were like this with the others. Last night sent me into a bit of a panic, because I was having pretty strong contractions, and wasn’t feeling well, and I’m thinking “Oh no, the baby will come, we have no name for him or her,the car seat isn’t washed, etc. etc.

I did not have a good night, and this morning after a call to my midwife, I was put on bedrest. So, I’m currently pretty stuck to the recliner, and we will go in for a checkup tomorrow, and then go from there. Baby is not relaxing. Hardly stops moving. Does that mean sleepless nights coming up?? πŸ™‚

At any rate, we are super anxious to meet our sweet baby, and see this busy little person! I’m definitely being taught a lesson in patience πŸ™‚

Until then, we will do our best to stay healthy πŸ™‚

And here are a few pictures to close this post…

More of Haiti

I’m telling you folks, it is winter for real around here! Winds, snow, cold, cold, cold. But I’m cozy right now, and I’m thinking about that time we went to Haiti πŸ™‚ If only I could have brought that weather home! Church was cancelled today. So we are spending time at home. This morning, I put pictures in photo albums. Now, it’s the middle of the afternoon, had a 1/2 hr. snooze, and I’m blogging πŸ™‚

Are you up for round #2 on Haiti? Here goes….

I believe the last post ended on our Sat. morning there. We ate our breakfast, and readied for our trip to the beach. It was not a super sunny day, but nice and warm. Our drive took us an hour and a half. The back was where I rode. We stood the whole time, and it didn’t even seem long πŸ™‚ Too much to see!

Misc. and Haiti, Jan. 2015 171_edited-1A Haitian man showed us this fellow. Misc. and Haiti, Jan. 2015 173So much beauty! I just couldn’t believe I was on the beach in another country, while my people back home were trying to stay warm.

All too soon it was time to pack up. and head back to the mission. We wanted to go out for supper, and Harold doesn’t like to be out on the roads after dark too much, so we headed for “home”.

Ok, back after a little break to help hubby milk, make supper, and bathe little miss.

I was astounded. We have so much in America. Too much. But they hung curtains at the window. The beds looked clean. Her mother (the twins Grandma), was washing clothes when we came. And she may have been using a dishpan and scrubbing by hand, but the clothes hanging on the line were clean! You could tell she worked hard. But until you are there, you just don’t really see how some people have to live. And to them it’s probably all they knew. I had to think, why did I grow up where there was always plenty? Why do they have to struggle? So many things go through your mind. You just feel like giving all your money away to them. The Grandmother said they were hungry. They had used the last of the rice. Do any of us have any idea what that would be like?! To not know when you can eat again. We did give her something then to help, but this is not just their family. So many more! I know it’s something Harold doesn’t always know how to handle. When so many have need, but you have to watch how much you give as well. There is always those that will take advantage.

I must close this post. I still have more pictures, but we shall have to do a 3d post πŸ™‚ I best get to bed. Tomorrow morning I’m milking, and that alarm goes pretty early πŸ™‚ It is supposed to be below zero, and windy 😦 Ahh, the perks of farming πŸ™‚

Home again!

Yes indeed, we survived the flight πŸ™‚ Some of you are patiently waiting for a Haiti post. I’m getting there 😊 This is the longest break I’ve ever taken from blogging πŸ™‚ Guess I needed time since we came home, and it’s been a bit busy. I often do my blogging at night after the children are in bed, but for some reason, I just felt like sleeping instead. That warm Haitian weather definitely left you feeling more motivated than this arctic blast around here πŸ™‚

So I’m doing at least 2 posts on Haiti, Β because you know me, I took LOTS of pictures!

I just want to say a big thanks for all your well wishes and prayers for our trip! I am convinced your prayers brought us back home on time. More on that later, maybe another post πŸ™‚ Right now, Dale and I are sitting in a dr.’s office, waiting to see if Tristan qualifies for vision therapy. We are so hoping they can help our little man! He struggles so much with learning, and we are hoping this helps him out!

OK , back on track here. Photo overload coming up ☺Misc. and Haiti, Jan. 2015 141

Waiting for takeoff

My alarm went at 12:45 a.m., Friday morning. We took 2 suitcases full of frozen things, so I packed that up, and we were off. We were enroute to JFK by 2:30, if I remember right. Traveling went well, as did our security check in. We boarded the plane on time, but then ended up waiting on the plane for more than an hour, waiting to get de iced. I have to say I loved takeoff! That feeling of power, and then the slight lift. Flying was not my favorite part of the trip, but it sure was pretty up there! And it gave us some time to catch a few much needed winks πŸ˜‰20150130_133932So pretty!Misc. and Haiti, Jan. 2015 151_edited-1Descending into Haiti. And then the chaos πŸ™‚ Lots of offers, let us help with your bags. We turned them down. Uniformed men ushering us through the crowd.Β  We spot Harold and Sherita. Quick hugs and a few tears. I’m thinking, these guys are helpful. And then one grabs my bag. Let me help you. Yes, so kind. And then we get to the truck, and the asking for money begins. So I give the guy a bit. Then the next guy wants some, too. He was carrying another suitcase, not mine. I told him, I paid the one that had my suitcase. He put on his puppy dog face, please some for me. Welcome to Haiti!! πŸ™‚

And then riding on the back of the truck to the mission. I loved it. All the sights, smells. An eye opener. And every now and then, Harold’s driving opened them a bit wider πŸ˜‰ There is no system to the driving there. Well, yes, there is. It’s grab gears and go. It’s fly and be ready to stop quick. It’s each for his own πŸ™‚ Misc. and Haiti, Jan. 2015 163 Misc. and Haiti, Jan. 2015 169_edited-1When we ride on the back, we ride in style.20150131_090401Mindy and I. We called them “The Glittery Jewels”. But we said this in our best dutchy accent. “Glichree Chewels”. Maybe we were tired πŸ™‚ Anyways, I still laugh about those scarves.

When we got back, we were served a Haitian meal that their cook made. I didn’t care for the bean sauce, and the picklies ( I’m sure that’s spelled wrong), but the rice and vegetable sauce were sooo good! Hati, Owen, Misc 022_edited-1I just made myself hungry πŸ™‚ I don’t think I got a picture of the cook. Her name was Milan. That’s probably spelled wrong too πŸ™‚ But she was a sweetheart!
