A Beautiful Mess

If you should happen to stop in at my house, you would not find everything neatly in it’s place, and the windows sparkling. You would not find a clean kitchen floor, nor a sink with no dishes. Perhaps there is a select few of you who have it all figured out, and are well put together πŸ˜‰ You can give me some tips if you do πŸ™‚

What you would find if you stopped in this very evening is… I am being totally honest here, that way if you really do show up, you won’t be shocked out of your mind. The dishes are washed, and the dishwasher is running. There is also a rack full of drying dishes. There is toys, books, jars of tomato juice (that my sweet mom-in-law canned), mail, and even some clothes on the counter top.

There is wash drying on drying racks, wash hanging from the trim at doorways to dry, wash on the kitchen table, and wash in baskets to fold.

My front door has been painted a different color weeks ago, but I still didn’t get around to painting the other 6 or 8 doors.

My tile back splash is still not on since Jenna’s accident this spring. Mostly our fault. We just don’t call to get it taken care of. Yes, we are pretty normal πŸ™‚

And so you may wonder, why I’m not cleaning up this mess. So I’ll tell you πŸ™‚ Because I have learned in whatsoever state I am, to be content πŸ˜‰ Juuust kidding!! No, what I have learned, is that the work never, ever ends. It does not run away, and it does not get cleaned up on it’s own. And sometimes, when the house is quiet, I ignore the mess, and do something that I enjoy, like blogging. Yes, I really do enjoy writing! You may not think I do, because of my sporadic posts, but I do.

And what would I do without this mess and chaos? It means I have a family to love and cherish. And I am made so aware lately that tomorrow is not guaranteed. So I choose to embrace the mess. Because it is in fact beautiful. I’ll tell myself this tomorrow when I wake up to it πŸ™‚
